I work in portraiture using paints and inks, but I also explore ideas in mixed media. My past narrative work has evolved into a very honest look at my own body, and the effect on it of Lipo-Lymphedema. It is a genetic and female hormone driven condition which causes predominantly women's bodies to swell in a hyper-feminine way...and is to society's eyes ugly. However I am looking for painterly beauty and analysis of the thin transparent skin, weighty flesh, the stretch marks, veins and colours - and with a bit of dreaminess too.
